 101.01  PURPOSE.
                         
 (A) An essential part of the establishment of an E911 emergency telephone system is the creation of a uniform systems of addressing throughout the City of Williamstown and the cities in the County of Grant;

 (B) A uniform system of addressing has been adopted and unique, identifying numbers have been assigned to each dwelling within the County of Grant and the cities in the County of Grant;

 (C) There exists a need for identifying numbers to be affixed in a location which clearly identifies said dwelling; and

 (D) To promote the delivery of both routine and emergency services to the residents of the City, the greatest benefit from the establishment of a numbering system can only be served by the posting of numbers upon each property.

101.02  REQUIREMENTS.
 
 (A) The owner or occupant of each dwelling located within the confines of the City, and within the Commonwealth of Kentucky, shall cause to be posted upon or near the dwelling, those identifying numbers presently assigned to the dwelling.

 (B) The posting required by this chapter shall be accomplished within sixty (60) days of the effective date of this chapter.

 (C) The number shall be of sufficient size and of appropriate color to be readily visible during light or darkness to a passing motorist traveling in either direction upon the nearest publicly accessible roadway.

 (D) Failure to comply with this chapter shall be sufficient cause of postal authorities to refuse delivery of mail to the offending dwelling.

101.99  PENALTY.
 
 Any occupant of a dwelling failing to comply with the chapter shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and fined not less than twenty-five dollars ($25.00) nor more than one hundred dollars ($100.00). (Ord. 1995-14, passed 9-5-95)
